Tesco adds to Halal fresh poultry range

Tesco has expanded it's Halal poultry range with two new fresh chicken products from Gafoor.

The 900g small whole baby chicken and pack of fresh chicken fillets are listed in about 250 Tesco express stores and 67 Tesco extras.

The lines are certifies halal through the Halal monitoring committee and the birds slaughtered non-stunned.

Gafoor said the listing came at a time when there was uncertainty about the future of Halal poultry in the UK ahead of new stunning legislation as well as changes to slaughter rules recently announced by rival certification body HFA.
