Pakistan aims to export Halal meat to Iran

Vice Chancellor of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Prof Talat Naseer Pasha, on Sunday said growth rate of halal meat export in last three years was observed to 35 percent which in the current year reached to 45 percent and it further has capacity to touch 55 percent if proper legislation be framed regarding halal meat export.

Talking to APP here, he said during the last year Pakistan exported red meat worth of $300 million which might be increased in billions of dollars as halal export meat industry sharply growing reaching $600 billion in the world.

Prof Pasha said Saudi Arabia, Middle East countries, Iran and Arab Emirates were big importers of halal meat and Pakistan was in a position to export halal meat to these countries costing less expenditure instead of the European countries.
